What to Look for in an Albuquerque personal injury attorney

You will not find an Albuquerque personal injury attorney to be an endangered species. With so many different attorneys out there competing for your business, how do you know which personal injury lawyer is going to be the best choice for you?

  1. Passion. No matter what type of case you have, you want a passionate advocate who is going to fight for justice. You do not want an attorney who will treat you as just another number or just another case. If you aren’t getting individual attention from the attorney you are considering, it is time to consider a different one.

  1. Knowledge. Unsurpassed knowledge of the law and how it pertains to your particular situation is another absolute necessity. It is unwise to go with an untried lawyer, especially if there is the slightest possibility that your case will go to trial. You want a lawyer who has the knowledge and experience necessary to fight for you and win.

  1. Mission. Some personal injury attorneys are in it for the profit alone. Others truly believe that it is the right thing to do to hold people responsible for negligent or careless acts. Your attorney for personal injury should be the latter. You don’t want someone who sees you as just a potential payoff. You want someone who sees you as a person who has been wronged by others and deserves justice.

The one Albuquerque personal injury attorney that is going to fight hardest for you is out there. Don’t pick the one with the fanciest ad or the most polished television commercial. Pick the one who will look you in the eye and convince you that he or she is really on your side.

Settling a workman’s comp comp claim for a hand injury?

I injured my hand last year while working as a commercial cabinet installer, and have recieved my first settlement offer from the insurance company. The nature of the injury was somewhat severe, as I sliced open the entire top of my left hand with a power saw, severing all nerves and tendons. I have been put on permanent partial disability from my doctor, and have never returned to my employer, who has since started another business. The insurance company has come forth with a settlement offer, and I am looking for anyone with a similar history who may be able to impart some worthwhile advice. I have spoken to, but not secured an attorney as of yet. Thanks!
This is not a self-insured claim.

Is this a self-insured claim or are you dealing with the department of labor and industries? I am not sure what state Rob G. lives in, or what state you live in, but in Washington state there is no coverage of future medical bills. Once you accept the ppd award – permanent partial disability – your claim is closed. If your condition worsens you can apply to reopen after that, but it’s very very difficult to reopen a claim. your doctor will review the “offer” and if they’ve given you an appropriate percentage of impairment, then he’ll agree to the impairment rating and you’ll be paid and the claim will close! You have 60 days to protest the closure of the claim once you receive the check and the closing order! An attorney will take up to 30% of your award in this state! Did you go to L&I doctors for an exam or did your doctor provide the impairment rating that the dept is basing the “offer” on?
