A No Win No Fee Basis on Personal injury lawyers

An automobile or truck accident can put you in a world of hurt. The physical impact of the accident could be severe enough to keep you in the hospital for quite some time. You eventually get back home only to discover that you now have solicitations from personal injury lawyers all across your state.

They work fast in finding out about accidents because they want to get business. You will have fliers, letters and even magnets that advertise their services to you. Each and every one wants to be the lawyer to represent your accident claim.

You are sore and ready to put the accident behind you but you should wait on throwing out all those mailers from personal injury lawyers. That auto accident may have far lasting consequences on your body and wallet then you initially thought. The bruises will heal but what if there is permanent damage that limits your ability to perform work tasks? You may find that you do need personal injury litigation.

There are times when an injury may take days or weeks to begin to affect your health and performance. There is little doubt that there will be sore muscles and bruising after an accident but what if the soreness does not leave and it begins to affect your ability to perform your job.

You have to take time off from work and before long you are out of sick days but still unable to work. A personal injury attorney knows that these conditions can arise. He or she can make sure that you are getting the medical attention you need and will make sure that everything is documented.

If the other person was at fault for the accident, then his or her insurance company may want to give you a flat settlement. If your medical bills are more than the settlement amount, you are stuck paying for the rest out of your pocket. That is not even counting the loss of wages due to the time you had to take off from work. Accident attorneys specialize in the laws surrounding personal injury due to negligence or auto accidents.

There is little doubt that all of those mass mailers from personal injury lawyers can be a bit overwhelming. The best advice is to ask around with family and friends. Chances are good that you received a mailer from an attorney that they are familiar with. The best part is most work on a “no win, no fee” basis. All you have to do is set up the appointment to find out where you stand.

Can I sue my insurance company for ignoring me?

I was in an severe accident a month ago, and got a personal injury lawyer. It took 5 days for my own insurance adjuster to contact me / my attorney. the adjuster wanted to set up a statement for my mother and i, but my attorney nor i have heard from them since. i’m not allowed to contact my insurance company, yet my attorney calls everyday 2 times, leaves voicemails / messages / etc. the adjuster always seems to be busy or not available. have asked to speak to a supervisor, etc.. my attorney has sent faxes / certified letters and still continues to this day… i understand there is due diligence but this just seems out of line! Can I sue them for being non cooperative? what i am paying for?

The second you got the lawyer, your insurance company can no longer contact you directly. They HAVE to go through your lawyer.

Hiring a lawyer, usually doubles or triples the claim settlement timeframe.

It’s only been four weeks. Your adjuster probably HAS been returning attorney calls. They’re probably playing telephone tag. That’s pretty normal, with two people who spend most of their time on the phone.

As far as what you’re paying for – you’re paying for an attorney to handle this for you.

I’m not sure what you want YOUR insurance to do for you – whatever it is, they would have done it for you, WITHOUT an attorney. And if it’s the OTHER guy’s insurance, they have no duty of good faith towards YOU.

Call your agent, ask your agent to ask your adjuster, with YOUR insurance company, if your attorney really has been calling your insurance company twice a day.

But I strongly suspect, that you’re confusing YOUR insurance company, with the other guy’s insurance company. And no, you can’t sue the other guy’s insurance – because they don’t have to do anything for you, until you’ve sued their client in court, and WON.
