Can you buy options with unsettled funds?
I have a Scottrade account and just switched from cash account to a margin account. Now while I don’t feel a need at the moment to use the margin for loan purposes, I just want to know if say i have $20,000 in my account in unsettled cash from a sale can i immediately buy options again the same day with that much money or less? Thanks
Never mind … I found my answer.
Yes you can. Options can’t be purchased with margin at my broker and most others I believe but you can rebuy ( or trade for that matter) with the unsettled funds in the account. It’s probably better that way … Don’t need a margin call anyway. I was more curious if you can trade options just like stocks but found my answer on a website. But feel free to add if you like.
